Scalp micropigmentation Aftercare

Updated: May 12, 2022

Scalp micropigmentation is an entirely new approach to the treatment of hair loss. The world's leading hair loss solution offers guaranteed results, although the treatment is non-invasive and requires no downtime afterward. All that is required of you is to follow the aftercare instructions to ensure that the treatment has maximum success.

Instructions

Day 1-4: Avoid getting hair wet during the first 4 days after your treatment. Using a cooling airflow device such as a fan or even an air conditioner can help prevent the scalp from sweating and keep it dry, so you can get back to feeling normal again more quickly. Don't be afraid to wear hats (especially during the hot summer months), as they will keep your head warm and dry. However, remember that loose-fitting hats are best during this period because they can irritate the treated area if your hat is too tight-fitting. You may have some itching as the skin begins to heal. Resist scratching your scalp at all costs, as doing so can drastically affect the end results.

Day 5-7: You still don't want to do anything too strenuous like running or lifting weights to avoid sweating. You might be tempted but avoid massaging your scalp too since inflammation can occur, which could then lead to more severe complications, and remember that you just had several minor cuts done on your head, so infection is always a possibility, and these precautions can avoid this. Avoid overexposure to harsh chemicals in shampoos, as this can have side effects such as irritation, dryness, or even infection.

Day 8-14: You still do not want to be touching your head at this stage. Your scalp will have scabbed over now, and any contact could potentially cause the scabs to peel, which can also remove the pigment. You want to avoid using anything that could irritate your scalp more. If there are complications in the healing process, you should contact your artist immediately! The artist will advise you on what is best for your specific case but nothing more and a very thin layer of moisturizer at that. It's better to apply no moisturizer than too much because it can delay healing rather than help it! At this point, you can shave or cut your hair if needed but do so very gently. You can also wash your scalp with clean water and fragrance-free, antibacterial soap. After this stage, your scalp should be ready for you to return to your daily routine, including booking your next session.

Do's and Don'ts following

  • Do not wet your head for the first 48 hours after the treatment

  • Do not use any hair products for the first week

  • Do not exercise or sweat excessively for the first week

  • Do drink plenty of water to help flush out the pigments

  • Do keep your head elevated when sleeping to ensure that no pigment finds its way into the surrounding skin

  • Do not pick or scratch at any scabs that you might have after treatment, allow them to fall off naturally

  • Do not cover any of your treated areas with makeup, moisturizer, or sunscreen. You can once your scalp has fully healed

  • Do keep your treated areas out of the sun

  • Do visit your scalp Micropigmentation provider for a follow-up appointment 4-6 weeks after treatment to ensure that the treatment has been successful.

So, if you are experiencing hair loss and are looking for a solution that offers guaranteed results, then Scalp Micropigmentation is the treatment for you.
